Other Half Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 14, 2026 Last Updated: August 14, 2026
The Happy Broadcast, Inc. ("The Happy Broadcast," "we," "our," or "us") provides the Other Half mobile application, the Other Half pages on The Happy Broadcast website, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how and why we use it, when we disclose it, how long we retain it, and the choices and rights available to you. Other Half is a dating service for adults and is not intended for anyone under 18.
By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Your use of Other Half is also governed by our [Terms of Use](https://www.thehappybroadcast.com/apps/other-half/terms).
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
Depending on the features you use, you may provide:
- Account and authentication information, such as your Apple account identifier, name, email address or Apple private relay email address, account ID, and account timestamps.
- Profile information, such as your name, date of birth, age, gender, the genders you are interested in meeting, ethnicity, height, profession, company, city, neighborhood, profile preferences, and other details you choose to add.
- Profile videos and media, including video, audio, thumbnails, cover images, and media you record or select from your device.
- Compatibility and preference information, including answers about relationship goals, family and children, location and relocation, finances and lifestyle, values, education, culture, ethnicity, religion or beliefs, political views, substance use, health and fitness habits, food, sleep, emotional and conflict styles, love language, social style, interests, entertainment, and other dating preferences.
- Interactions with other members, such as likes, maybes, passes, matches, messages, message reactions, typing and read status, chat reactivation requests, whether you indicate that you met a match, unmatches, blocks, and reports.
- Safety and support information, including report reasons and details, support requests, correspondence, and information you provide when we investigate a safety, technical, or account issue.
- Waitlist and communications information, such as your contact details and general area when you join a location waitlist or ask to receive updates.
Some information you provide may be considered sensitive personal information or a special category of personal data under applicable law. This can include precise geolocation, ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, political opinions, and information concerning sex life or sexual orientation. You choose whether to provide this information, but some information is necessary for Other Half to provide dating and matching features. Where required, we ask for your consent before processing sensitive information and you may withdraw that consent, subject to the consequences described in Section 11.
Location information
With your permission, Other Half collects your device's precise location coordinates to find candidates within your selected distance and to determine your city or neighborhood. Other members may see a city, neighborhood, approximate distance, or similar location context, but we do not intend to show them your raw coordinates.
You can change location permissions in your device settings. If you do not permit location access, some matching or location-based features may not work.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Services, we or our service providers may automatically collect:
- device type, operating system, app version, language, and device or app identifiers;
- IP address, network information, approximate location derived from IP address, and timestamps;
- app screens viewed, buttons or features used, session activity, notification opens, subscription status, and other product interactions;
- crash reports, error logs, diagnostics, performance information, and security events;
- push notification tokens and your notification preferences; and
- website browser, cookie, referrer, page-view, and interaction information.
The website may use cookies or similar technologies for essential operation, security, and analytics. You can manage cookies through your browser and, where available, our consent controls.
Information from other sources
We may receive information from:
- Apple, when you use Sign in with Apple, download the app, enable push notifications, or make an App Store purchase;
- other members, when they interact with, block, or report your account or content;
- service providers, such as subscription status, fraud or security signals, crash information, and analytics; and
- public authorities or other parties, when needed to investigate misuse, comply with law, or protect someone's safety or rights.
2. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- create, authenticate, maintain, and secure your account;
- build and display your profile and profile video to potential matches and matches;
- apply your age, gender-interest, height, distance, and other discovery preferences;
- calculate and rank potential compatibility and provide match reasons or compatibility insights;
- provide likes, matches, chat, icebreakers, reactions, read status, reminders, and related social features;
- operate local waitlists and open matching in an area when there are enough members for a useful experience;
- provide and manage Other Half Plus features and confirm subscription entitlements;
- deliver push notifications and other communications you request;
- generate behavior-based Trust Signals and operate conversation features intended to encourage considerate behavior;
- detect, investigate, prevent, and respond to fraud, spam, scams, harassment, impersonation, unsafe conduct, security incidents, and violations of our Terms;
- process blocks, reports, account deletion, and support requests;
- understand usage, measure performance, fix errors, and improve the Services;
- enforce our agreements and protect the rights, property, and safety of users, the public, and The Happy Broadcast; and
- comply with legal, tax, accounting, regulatory, and law-enforcement obligations.
Compatibility ranking and profiling
Other Half uses the information you provide, including preferences and compatibility answers, to filter, score, rank, and explain potential matches. This is a form of profiling. These results are intended as dating recommendations; they do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects, and they do not guarantee compatibility, identity, safety, or relationship success.
You may update many profile details, preferences, and questionnaire answers in the app. You may also contact us about the use of your information as described in Section 11.
3. What Other Members Can See
Other Half is designed to introduce people to one another. Depending on the feature and your settings, potential matches or matches may see information such as:
- your first name or displayed name, age, gender, height, profession, company, city, neighborhood, and profile video;
- shared interests, compatibility scores, match reasons, or summarized compatibility insights;
- your likes, mutual-match status, messages, reactions, typing status, read status, and chat activity; and
- certain Trust Signals or behavior indicators.
We do not intend to show other members your raw precise coordinates or every raw compatibility answer. However, a video, profile field, message, compatibility insight, or other content you share may reveal personal or sensitive information. Other members may save or redistribute information they can see. Share thoughtfully and do not include information you would not want another member to retain.
4. Legal Bases for Processing in the EEA and UK
If European Economic Area or United Kingdom data protection law applies, we rely on one or more of these legal bases:
- Performance of a contract: to create your account and provide the matching, profile, communication, subscription, and support features you request.
- Legitimate interests: to secure and improve the Services, understand their use, prevent abuse, moderate content, communicate with you, and protect users, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent: where required for precise location, notifications, cookies or analytics, marketing, and processing special-category information used for dating and compatibility features. You may withdraw consent at any time, but withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing.
- Legal obligations and public interests: to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, maintain required records, and protect vital interests where necessary.
If you do not provide information needed to perform our contract with you, we may be unable to provide some or all of the Services.
5. How We Disclose Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may disclose personal information as follows:
Other members
We disclose profile, matching, and interaction information as described in Section 3 so that Other Half can provide its core dating features.
Vendors and service providers
We use vendors to operate the Services. These may include:
- Supabase for authentication, databases, realtime features, and server-side functions;
- Bunny.net for profile-video storage, processing, and delivery;
- PostHog for product analytics;
- Google Firebase Crashlytics for crash reporting and diagnostics;
- Apple for Sign in with Apple, App Store distribution and billing, and push notifications;
- RevenueCat for subscription entitlement and purchase management;
- Expo and related infrastructure for app services and push-notification delivery; and
- Vercel and Google Analytics for website hosting, performance, and analytics.
These providers may process information on our behalf under their own contracts and privacy commitments. Their availability or our provider mix may change as the Services evolve.
Legal, safety, and enforcement disclosures
We may disclose information if we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with law or legal process; respond to lawful requests; enforce our Terms; investigate fraud, abuse, or safety concerns; protect any person's rights, property, or safety; or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Corporate transactions
Information may be disclosed or transferred in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction, subject to applicable law.
With your direction
We may disclose information when you ask us to or give us consent.
We may also use and disclose aggregated or deidentified information that cannot reasonably identify you. We will not attempt to reidentify deidentified information except as permitted by law to verify that our deidentification processes are effective.
6. Payments and Subscriptions
Other Half may offer subscriptions or in-app purchases through the Apple App Store. Apple processes your payment information. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number. We and RevenueCat may receive purchase identifiers, product purchased, subscription status, renewal or expiration information, and limited transaction information needed to provide paid features and support purchases.
Deleting your Other Half account does not necessarily cancel an Apple subscription. You can manage or cancel App Store subscriptions through your Apple account settings.
7. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Services, maintain security, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. Retention depends on the type of information, why we collected it, whether your account remains active, the sensitivity of the information, and applicable legal requirements.
In general:
- account, profile, compatibility, matching, and message information is retained while your account is active and then deleted or deidentified when no longer needed;
- profile videos are retained while associated with your account and are scheduled for deletion when you delete them or delete your account;
- reports, blocks, moderation decisions, transaction records, security logs, and limited account identifiers may be retained after account deletion when reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance;
- analytics and diagnostic records are retained according to the settings and schedules maintained by us and our providers; and
- residual copies may remain for a limited period in backups or disaster-recovery systems before being overwritten.
We may retain aggregated or irreversibly deidentified information for longer periods.
8. Account Deletion and Taking a Break
You can delete your account from the account settings in the app. Account deletion is intended to remove your profile, profile videos, compatibility information, matches, and messages, subject to the limited retention described in Section 7. You may also contact us at hello@thehappybroadcast.com for help with a deletion or privacy request.
Other Half may also offer a "Take a Break" or pause feature. Pausing hides or limits your participation but does not delete your account or information.
If you have an active subscription, deleting your account does not automatically cancel billing through Apple. Cancel the subscription separately in your Apple account settings.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. These include access controls, authenticated service requests, and safeguards for video delivery. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be lost, misused, or accessed without authorization.
Protect your device and Apple account, and contact us promptly if you believe your Other Half account or information has been compromised.
10. International Data Transfers
We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we use recognized transfer mechanisms and safeguards, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
11. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know whether we process your personal information and access or receive a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- delete personal information;
- receive certain information in a portable format;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing relies on consent;
- opt out of certain targeted advertising, sale, sharing, or profiling where applicable; and
- appeal a decision we make about a privacy request.
You can update many profile and preference fields, manage notifications, block members, take a break, or delete your account from the app. Device permissions can be changed in iOS Settings.
To exercise a privacy right, email hello@thehappybroadcast.com with the subject line “Other Half Privacy Request.” Tell us the right you want to exercise and the email or Apple relay email associated with your account. We may need to verify your identity. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law, but we may require proof of authorization and identity verification.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights. A request to delete or limit information necessary for matching may prevent us from continuing to provide some or all of Other Half.
EEA and UK residents
You may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, receive data portability, and withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern.
California residents
If the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended ("CCPA"), applies to us and your information, you may have rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information, and receive equal service and pricing.
In the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the categories described in Section 1: identifiers; customer-record information; protected classification characteristics; commercial information; internet or electronic activity; geolocation; audio, electronic, and visual information; professional or employment information; sensitive personal information; and inferences. We collect these categories from you, your device, Apple and other providers, other users, and the other sources described above. We use and disclose them for the business and commercial purposes described in Sections 2 and 5.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 18. We use sensitive personal information only as reasonably necessary to provide and secure the Services, process your choices, and for other purposes permitted by the CCPA. If these practices change, we will provide the notices and choices required by law.
California's “Shine the Light” law may permit residents to ask about certain disclosures for third parties' direct-marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing without your consent.
12. Communications and Notifications
You can manage categories of push notifications in the app or disable notifications in iOS Settings. You can unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in the message or by contacting us. We may still send non-promotional messages necessary to operate your account, respond to you, or provide legal or safety notices.
13. Children's Privacy
Other Half is only for people who are at least 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account or appears in content on the Services, contact us immediately at hello@thehappybroadcast.com so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
14. Third-Party Links and Services
The Services may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review them before providing information.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Services or applicable law changes. We will update the “Last Updated” date and, when required, provide additional notice in the app, on the website, or by another reasonable method. If required by law, we will ask for consent before applying a material change to information already collected.
